Coma patient is alive. Although, the patient is unable to respond to the external stimuli but can respond to internal stimuli (changes). For example, if a patient in coma shows symptoms of recovery upon administering medications via injections, he/she is responding to the changes in his/her internal environment (created due to injected medicines). Thus, the patient is said to be alive as he/she is conscious of the changes within or outside his/her body.
