The Directive Principles of State Policy in the Indian Constitution are guidelines or principles given to the central and state governments to be followed in governance. Here are five Directive Principles:
Equal Pay for Equal Work (Article 39(d)): The state shall ensure that there is equal pay for equal work for both men and women.
Right to Work, Education, and Public Assistance (Article 41): The state shall ensure the right to work, education, and public assistance in cases of unemployment, old age, sickness, and disablement.
Promotion of Cottage Industries (Article 43): The state shall take steps to promote cottage industries on an individual or cooperative basis in rural areas to uplift the economic conditions of the weaker sections.
Living Wage and Improved Working Conditions (Article 43): The state shall endeavor to secure a living wage, fair working conditions, and a decent standard of life for all workers, both in the organized and unorganized sectors.
Promotion of Educational and Economic Interests of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Weaker Sections (Article 46): The state shall promote with special care the educational and economic interests of the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and other weaker sections and protect them from social injustice and exploitation.
These principles aim to guide the state in establishing a just and equitable society, promoting social and economic welfare, and addressing the needs of vulnerable sections of the population.
