Mitosis and Meiosis are cell divisions seen in living organisms.

Mitosis occurs in the body cells where two daughter cells are formed at the division each carrying equal number of chromosomes as that of the parent cell. Thus, it is also called equational division.

Meiosis occurs in the reproductive cells where four daughter cells are formed at the end of the division each carrying half the number of chromosomes as that of the parent cell. Thus, it is also called reductional division.
