Please try remembering mitosis as a cell division which occurs in the body cells. At the end of mitosis two daughter cells are formed which have equal number of chromosomes as that of the parent cell.
On the other hand, meiosis is a cell division that occurs in the reproductive cells. At the end of meiosis four daughter cells are formed which have half the number of chromosomes as that of the parent cell.
