Not all microorganisms can grow in all different kinds of habitats. Diffferent microorganisms are specially equipped with the ability to survive in different conditions, even extremes of conditions.

For examples, thermophiles are bacteria which can survive at temperatures above 200ºC as well, acidophiles are bacteria which can survive at a pH as low as 1.

The reason they can do so is because of the presence of special proteins that have evolved in them which resists denaturation even at such extreme conditions.
