Is there friction in space as there is vaccum and no particle is there to resist or cause drag. If it so then why spaceships need so much fuel they should just thrust their ship one time only

There is no friction and no force of gravity in the space. As a result of this, the spaceships cannot move until and external source of energy moves in the space. This energy is provoded by the burning of huge amount of fuel by the spaceships.
