When we bring a charged rod near a neutral conductor, then the conductor is charged due to presence of charged rod.
is is called charging by induction.
The reason behind induction is, attraction between opposite charges.
See figure, when we bring the positively charged rod near conductor, all the electrons of conductor attracted towards rod and collected at the near end, whereas due to repulsion positive charge collected at the further end of the conductor.
