Rusting is a very slow process of oxidation of iron with oxygen to form iron oxide, or the rust which we see. Combustion is also an oxidation reaction where a compound undergoes reaction with oxygen and forms the oxidised compound. But it takes place at a rate faster than rusting. Thus rusting can be considered as a process of slow combustion.
