The heart has four chambers: two atria and two ventricles.
The right atrium receives blood from the body and pumps it to the right ventricle. The right ventricle pumps blood to the lungs to take fresh oxygen.
The left atrium receives oxygenated blood from the lungs and pumps it to the left ventricle. The left ventricle then pumps the oxygenated blood to the whole body. This phenomenon is known as the circulation of blood.
