The food we take in is broken down into its simpler forms of sugars. Glucose is the basic unit of the component of food. As a result, the enzymes in our body process the food and breaks it down to glucose units. The glucose molecules then undergo oxidation and liberated energy in the form of ATP. This process is respiration.
