When we exercise or run or climb, our muscles work harder.
Our body uses more oxygen to produce more and more energy. In turn, produces carbon dioxide.
To meet the extra energy demand, we start breathing heavily up to about 40–60 times a minute (100 litres of air) during exercise, run, or climb.
