According to the Corpuscular theory of light given by Isaac Newton, he assumed the corpuscular particles of light to be elastic and rigid as they are very tiny particles, so they dont lose or transfer energy or mass in any form. Thus they can be considered to be perfectly rigid and elastic in nature.
