Dopant is a trace of impurity material added to a substance, which is usually a semiconductor material. The dopant is also called as doping agent and the process is called doping. The addition of dopant to the pure semiconductor material results in either p-type or n-type semiconductor. These semiconductors are used in diodes and transistors.
