why is it ideal situation in cases of a solenoid to take its outer magnetic field zero
Answer:

Magnetic field outside a long solenoid can never be zero. Because a solenoid of finite length will have edges and field will come out.

But, If we talk about a solenoid of infinite length, then  the magnetic field outside is equal to zero.Because it will not have edges from where lines of force can come out
