Question:
How to distinguish between capacitors connect in series and parallel?
Answer:

In Series Combination capacitors are connected end-to-end, one after the other, with no branching points between them.

It forms a single path for the current to flow through all the capacitors.

The total voltage across the series combination is equal to the sum of the individual capacitor voltages.

In Series combination in order to find equivalent resistance of capacitors the formula used is:-

1/Ceq = 1/C1 + 1/C2 + 1/C3 + ....

In a parallel combination, capacitors are connected at both ends to a common node or junction point.

They share the same voltage across their terminals and have multiple paths for current flow.

The voltage is equal for each capacitor and is the same as the voltage across the entire parallel combination.

In Parallel Combination in order to find equivalent resistance of capacitors the formula used is:-

Ceq = C1 + C2 + C3 + ...
