Case 1: When the circuit is open, there is no current in the circuit. Hence, the electro magnet does not have any effect.
Case 2: (a) When the circuit is closed, current flows in the circuit (b) Hence, there is a change in the magnetic flux linked with the coil (c) This produces an induced emf in the coil which pushes the aluminium ring to great height.
