Answer:
Both stationary phase and mobile phase are selected in such a way that different components of the mixture to be separated differentially dissolves in them, and this eventually leads to their separation from the mixture. So while choosing mobile phase also, the componenets to be separated needs to be taken care of, such that they disslove differentially in the mobile phase and separates out.
