From Alkane when one hydrogen (+H)  is replaced with one hydroxy group (-OH) then that compound is called Alcohol 

example -

CH_{4 (methane)} if i wil replaced One hydrogen from here and add one hydroxy group so it will be CH₃OH_(Methanol)
