Lucas Test is based on the defference in reactivity of alcohol with HCl distinguishes them from one another alcohol.

Lucas reagent = (ZnCl₂ + HCl)

Primary alcohol = do not give turbidity 

Secondary  alcohol = Give turbidity in 5-10 mins

Tertiary alcohol = Give instant Turbidity

* Note __ Alcohol are soluble in Lucas Reagent but Halides gives Turbidity.
