Gene regulation refers to activity of controlling gene expression. There are several non-constitutive genes (also called luxury genes) which do not need to express themselves continuously into proteins. They are switched on and off according to the requirements of the cell. Thus, gene regulation activity ensures their expression at appropriate times.
