Viruses usually have single stranded RNA as their genome. When they are able to penetrate inside the bosy, they come in contact with the cells near to the region of their entry, and pushes their RNA material inside the host cell. This RNA can then get attached to the DNA of the host cell and start coding for proteins which are non-host, and rather are viral proteins. Thsi is the basic reason for cancer caused by some viruses.
