Greenhouse effect is the phenomenon of trapping of the suns warmth in a atmosphere of a planet, like Earth, due to the greater transparency of the atmosphere to visible radiation from the sun than to infrared radiation emitted from the planets surface.

The total amount of effective halogens (chlorine and bromine) in the stratosphere can be calculated and are known as the equivalent effective stratospheric chlorine.
