Therefore, the organisms are classified into categories based on the similarities and differences they share. On such classification was given by RH Whittaker, which is called the 'Five Kingdom Classification'.

According to this classification, the various organisms on this earth can be categorised into the following 5 kingdoms:

1. Monera

2. Protista

3. Fungi

4. Plantae

5. Animalia
