A fragment od DNA is a fragment resulting due to the cutting of a DNA strand by a restriction enzyme or restriction endonucleases. As we know, each restriction enzyme is highly specific, thus they recognise a particular short DNA sequence, or restriction site, and cuts both DNA strands at specific points within this site. This gives rise to DNA fragments.
