Intensity of sound increases at night. Since the temperatures at noght are usually lower than that during the day, the air particles such near the ground are colder than higher up. Thus the air molecules tend to be more closer to the surface during the night and the density of air particles around us increases. This helps in the propagation of sound waves by compressions and rarefactions of the air particles. Thus, we hear sounds clearer and louder during the night.
