

(1) Scalar quantity - Physical quantity which have magnitude only.
Example- Distance, speed.
(2) Vector quantity - Physical quantity which have magnitude as well as direction, and obeys the laws of vector addition.
Example- velocity, acceleration.
(3) Unit vector- It is a vector whose magnitude is unity, denoted by a hat above the letter.
Example- If V is a vector then, unit vector of V is

(4) Torque on a dipole in a uniform electric field is a vector quantity, which is the vector product of dipole moment (vector) and electric field (vector).
Torque = p× E = pE sinΘ (p= dipole moment and E = electric field)
