Question:
A particle of mass m moves with constant speed v on a circular path of radius r. Find magnitude of average force on it in half revolution.
Answer:

circle

Given, particle of mass m is moving with constant velocity v.

(As given that the velocity is constant,but the direction of velocity changes)

As we know,

Change in momentum= Final momentum-initial momentum

= mv-(-mv) =2mv

Average force = change in momentum/ time

Time= Distance/speed

Distance in half revolution= π.r

So,time= π.r/v

Average force= 2mv/(π.r/v)

= 2mv2 /π.r
