Terminal velocity refers to the constant maximum velocity reached by an object falling through a fluid (such as air or water) when the force of gravity pulling it downwards is balanced by the force of air resistance or drag pushing against it. At terminal velocity, the object's acceleration becomes zero because the forces acting on it are in equilibrium.
