Question:
Incase of inert pair effect they are saying that when S-oprbital is near nucleus like 2s the the attraction b/n Nucleus and s-orbital electrons are less but when S-orbital is far away from nucleus like 6s then the attarction b/n nucleus and 6s obitals are very much.We know that force is inversly proportional to square of distance. Then how it is occuring?
Answer:

The concept written above is wrong. S orbitals are always more attracted towards the nucleus because the do not have nodes, that is the probability of finding the electron is maximum at the centre. So it is strongly attracted to by the positively charged nucleus. However, as the distance increases, (as in the question, from 2S to 6S), the nuclear attraction decreases to some extent because of the steric effects of the orbitsls that come in between, like the 2P, 3S and 3P, 4S, 4P and 4D, 5S, 5P and 5D, which comes in between the 2S and 6S orbitals.
