There are two types of atomic spectra -
1) Absorption spectrum - a spectrum containing electromagnetic radiations transmitted through a substance, wich shows dark lines or bands due to absorption of energy at specific wavelengths.
2) Emission spectrum - a spectrum of lines corresponding to the electromagnetic radiations that are emitted by a source.
