Question:
calculate the no. of gold atoms in 300mg of a gold ring of 20 carrat gold (atomic mass of gold is 197u, pure gold is 24 carat) ?
Answer:

1 carat = 0.205 gm

Atomic mass of Gold = 196.967

Atomic mass of Gold in carats =  197/0.205  = 960.814

1 Atomic mass of Gold has Avogadro number of Atoms of Gold =  6.022 X 10 23

960.814 carats of Gold has 6.022 X 1023 atoms of Gold

So, 1 carat of Gold has  6.022 X 1023 /960.814 = 0.00627 X 1023  =  6.27 X 1020 atoms of gold

So 20 carats shall have  20 X 6.27 X 1020 = 12.54 X 1020  = 1.254 X1021 atoms of Gold
