Question:
Why is there a difference between the method of electronic configuration in ICSE and CBSE syllabus? In ICSE we learn... KLMN shells and in CBSE about spdf subshells.... Why have we all these troubles?
Answer:

In any atom, there are K, L, M, N shells. Within each shell thre are subshells in the form of s, p, d, f subshells. For example, K shell has s subshell which can maximally have 2 electrons. L shell has s and p subshells, where s subshell can hold 2 electrons and p subshell can hold 6 electrons maximally. It goes on like this.

There is no difference between ICSE and CBSE prescribed syllabi for any of the fundamental theories in any subject.
