Discharge potential is the process of dicharging ions in a solution inside a electrolytic cell.
If a metal rod is put inside a solution containing its ions, then these ions tend to collide with the rod, and in this process may gain electrons. Due to this they may lose electrons and hence, become discharged.
Thus, the potential required for an ion to undergo the above process and become discharged is called the discharge potential.
