Question:
Write down the reactions involved during the formation of photochemical smog.
Answer:

Photochemical smog is produce under the sunlight between oxides of nitrogen and hydrocarbons

NO oxidised by oxygen of NO2

N2 + O2  → 2NO (high temperature)

2NO + O2 → 2NO2 (high temperature)

NO2 further dissociates into NO and O under sunlight

NO2 → NO + O

This free oxygen reacts together and form Ozone

O2 + O → O3

Further, Ozone reacts with NO to form NO2 which creates photochemical smog

NO + O2 → NO2 + O2
