Some varieties of frogs and whales needs to survive under water even at very low temperatures as it is their habitat. So under such extreme conditions, to keep their proteins active and functional in body, they have a thich layer of fat deposited in their bodies. Fats acts as an insulator of heat in their bodies and does not allow the body heat to go out into the atmosphere. This prevents them from freezing even at low temperatures.
