C3 Plants:

C3 plants are known as cool-season plants. They reduce CO2 by the enzyme ribulose bisphosphate carboxylase (RUBPcase) in the chloroplast. The CO2 react with ribulose bisphophate and forms two molecules of a 3-carbon acid. C3 plants can be annual or perennial. These include wheat, rye, oats, orchardgrass, fescues.

C4 Plants

C4 plants are known as tropical plants. They reduce CO2 by first converting carbon dioxide to oxaloatcetate, a 4-carbon acid during photosynthesis. This type of photosynthesis in highly efficient and little fixed CO2 is lost through photorespiration. C4 plants can be annual or perennial. C4 plants include corn, sudangrass, and pearlmillet, bluestem, indiangrass etc.
