Lysosomes are single membrane-bound cell organelles which contain digestive enzymes within them. Under several conditions like when the cell gets damaged, the lysosomal membrane breaks down releasing the digestive enzymes in its own cell cytoplasm. The digestive enzymes digests the various structural components of the cell, ultimately leading to its death. Therefore, lysosomes are called the "suicidal bags".
