Ascomycetes are a group of fungi, which are commonly called 'sac fungi'. They are multicellular, branched and septate. They are generally saprophytic, decomposers, parasitic or coprophilous. 

For example, Penicillium, Aspergillus, Claviceps and Neurospora.
