Osteichthyes is a class of superclass Pisces. It comprises of the bony fishes i.e. fishes with bony endoskeleton. They are found in both marine and freshwater habitat.

Some of their identifying features are:

1. Presence of terminal mouth.

2. Presence of cycloid/ctenoid scales on their skin.

3. Presence of air bladders to regulate buoyancy.

4. Exhibit external fertilisation.

5. They are mostly oviparous.
