Earth is a natural source of magnetic field which exists everywhere near the earths surface.
The magnitude of this field on the surface is about 10-4 Tesla
Cause of Earths magnetism-
It is believed that the field is due to the rotation of earth about its axis.The rotation of earth causes the charged ions in molten core of the earth to rotate along with it.This is equivalent to the formation of current loops which produces magnetic field.
