A convex lens and a concave lens can be visually identified.
A convex lens is thicker at the centre. When light rays are incident parallely on the convex lens, the light is focused or converged to one point on the other side of the lens. This point is called the principal focus of the lens.
Whereas a concave mirror is thinner at the centre. When light rays are incident parallely on the concave lens, the light is diverged away from the lens on the other side of the lens.
