An object was kept at the distance of 10cm length in 20cm. What is the image distance and nature of the image
Answer:

Given, object distance, u= 10 cm

Focal length, f = 20 cm

We can clearly see here that the focal length is larger than the object distance.

That means the position of object is between Focus F and optical centre of lens O.

Suppose,AB is the object placed between F and O as in below figure.

From lens formula-

1/f = 1/v -1/u

1/v = 3/20

and image distance, v = 20/3 cm.

And the image is virtual,erect in the nature.Larger than the object and formed behind the object,as in figure.
