Lets Understand

We cannot write every reaction as word reaction Because we may find some big reaction,

Example -

Magnesium + Oxygen → Magnesium oxide 
 

They are time taking and do not give any proper information about atoms  

Now in chemical equation -

4Fe + 3O₂ + X.H₂O→2Fe₂O₃.

Here we know that 4 Iron is reacting with 3 oxygen molecule

--- A chemical equation is a written representation, using Symbols and Mathametical No.for the process  occurs in chemical reaction
