Answer:

This reaction is an example of acid-base/neutralisation reaction. Here CuO is basic in nature while we all know Hydrochloric acid (HCl) is acidic in nature. Both of them simply react to give salt (Copper chloride) & water.

Don't get confused by considering this reaction as single displacement reaction where more reactive element displaces less reactive element.
