Question:

the circumference of the base of a conical tent is 44 cm. If the height of tent is 24 m, find the length of the canvas used in making the tent, if the width of the canvas is 2 cm.

Answer:

Let radius of the canonical tent is r and height is h

Now circumference of the base = 44

=> 2πr = 44

=> 2*(22/7)*r = 44

=> 44r/7 = 44

=> r/7 = 1

=> r = 7

Given h = 24

Now, CSA of tent = 2πrh

                        = 2 *(22/7)*7*24

                        = 1056

=> are of the canvas = 1056

=> length * breadth = 1056

Given, breadth = 2

So, Length = 1056/2

=> Length = 528 m
